Our motives for building this site

The topic of healthy eating is no longer easy to define in this day and age. The pre-packaged food is in abundance on the shelves of supermarkets, in the parking lot already waiting for the snack cart with a curry sausage fries for in between and then another milkshake is fetched at the fast food chain on the way home. That’s why fast, cheap and, above all, unhealthy food is part of our society like never before and is becoming more and more integrated into the life of every individual, sometimes unconsciously. Why? Because most people allegedly lack the time. Here it goes probably many people like also us. Besides work, hobby, partner and the everyday things we all have to deal with, there is often no time to prepare a balanced and healthy meal. Because of this, many resort to quick, unhealthy solutions instead of taking the time to eat something balanced to get the nutrients that humans need to live.

With Foodikon we want to show you quick, easy and healthy alternatives that you can easily integrate into your daily routine. Important to us are foods without any chemical additives such as preservatives or dyes, thickeners or emulsifiers.

Our definition of healthy eating

The question of what a healthy diet should contain in this day and age is difficult to define, even by experts. Because every body and organism reacts differently to certain foods. In the same way, many nutritional concepts fall away for many people due to food allergies, intolerances or ethical convictions. For this reason, we do not want to give you a 1-to-1 plan on this page that everyone should follow, but rather suggest a wide range of products that provide you with many important macro- and micronutrients.

A balanced diet forms the basis for a healthy lifestyle and ensures that body and mind stay fit. That is, the healthier we eat, the better the body can use the health benefits. We are more efficient, more concentrated and get sick less often. Of course, the same is true the other way around. Those who pay little attention to a healthy diet usually suffer from typical ailments such as obesity, fatigue, concentration problems or become ill more often. Of course, it is up to everyone how he sets his priorities, but we find the current “trend” that food has to be cheaper and cheaper and is therefore provided with more and more additives, very critical.

So, since there is no correct definition of a healthy diet that applies to everyone, it is better to keep the statement more general. A healthy diet is above all a varied and balanced diet in which our body receives all the food components that are important for it. These are mainly carbohydrates, proteins and healthy fats. Through a diet as natural as possible based on natural foods, our body also gets enough vitamins, minerals, trace elements and fiber to be sufficiently supplied.

Our 1st tip for starting a healthier life

It all starts with shopping. Probably the most important tip we can give you is to go shopping with a full stomach. Who does not know it? The stomach growls, you buy much more than you actually intended and buy products that can be eaten quickly in the car.
At best, you make a list of all the food you need before you go shopping. That way you won’t be tempted to put things in your shopping cart that don’t belong there and are bad for you.
